Andy King is a propmaker and painter/sculptor on films, television and advertising commercials. He works fast, effectively without compromise. Andy's skill base is broad and professional and his finishes are second to none. Andy is in the business of making the incredible, credible and the unreal, real.

 

He has many years successful experience working to briefs and deadlines and working with and for contractors. He is well aware of health and safety issues on site and issues of design and production for the film, television and theme park industries.

As a qualified sign writer, Andy gained access to the props industry in England spending three years working as a scenic painter and prop maker for prop shops in London. He was able to work on projects that include theatre, television, film, museums, heritage centres and theme parks.

The work that Andy produced ranges from painting the puppets for the Walt Disney Lion King theatre Production, to painting large canvases and sign writing for the National Botanic Garden of Wales’ new centre, and building and painting props and sets at Tussauds Group venues including Rock Circus, Piccadilly London, Beanoland at Chessington World of Adventures and signs at Warwick Castle, England.

 

After returning to Dunedin in 2001, Andy has continued to produce  work for museums, theatre, film,Television, TV Commercials as well as design and shopfitting.

 

Numerous Museums have employed Andy's skills including Otago Museum and Toitu Settlers Museum, Dunedin; and his work has expanded and diversified, more recently, producing prosthetics for the main exhibits at Te Hikoi Heritage Museum, Riverton, Southland; and the new Awarua Communications Museum, Bluff;
